The Savannah Bananas baseball team, which is famous for putting a comedic and carefree twist to America’s pastime, took time out of the Houston leg of its Banana Ball World Tour on Saturday to visit the young patients at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH).

Houston-based media outlets reported the players brightened the kids’ day with the antics they perform at games.

According to Houston FOX affiliate KRIV, the Bananas, who called Constellation Field in Sugar Land home during a three-game exhibition, visited each patient’s room.

“We got to connect on a lot of cool things … Just getting to see the smile on their face(s) and hopefully brighten their day just a little bit more,” catcher Bill LeRoy said, KRIV reported.

LeRoy and his teammates did everything from dancing to taking pictures with their youngest fans.

Per the team, it was a pleasure to include TCH on the itinerary.

"We travel around with all these guys and fortunately we're here in Texas and get to hang out with you guys," one member said to a patient, Houston CBS affiliate KHOU reported. "Thank you for letting us come and hang out with you."

LeRoy told KHOU the Bananas are all about having fun.

“When you’re having fun, fun wins,” he said.

Citing Houston NBC affiliate KPRC, Houston Daily reported in October that the Bananas play the game differently from how it’s traditionally played.

In Banana Ball, for example, players can’t walk or bunt the ball and a fan snagging a foul ball counts as an out.

Additionally, a player using stilts to make himself appear at least twice his height is a normal sight.

KRIV reported that the Bananas and their opponents, the Party Animals, played before a sold-out crowd at the Sugar Land Space Cowboys’ resident ballpark in the opening game on Thursday.
