A professional baseball team that specializes in circus antics will pay a visit to the Houston area next spring, according to Houston-based media outlets’ reports.

The Savannah Bananas on Tuesday announced that they used the second pick in the second round of their 2023 Banana Ball World Tour Draft to tab Constellation Field in Sugar Land as one of the 33 ballparks the club will play in, Houston CBS affiliate KHOU reported

Constellation Field is home of the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, the Houston Astros’ Triple-A affiliate.

“It’s time to go bananas, y’all,” the Space Cowboys said in a tweet.

KHOU reported that while tickets aren’t on sale, the Bananas’ official website has experienced numerous crashes, with the team telling customers to keep checking back.

“Taking the Bananas to Texas has been something we’ve heard constantly from our fans over the years,” team owner Jesse Cole said, according to the station. “We are fired up to bring an unforgettable show to Sugar Land this spring.”

Space Cowboys General Manager Tyler Stamm said in a team-issued press release that the Bananas are “a premiere baseball entertainment product,” KHOU reported.

“It’s been exciting to watch their progress over the years,” Stamm said in the release. “We’re thrilled to provide our Space Cowboys fans and the Greater Houston community with a chance to see this one-of-a-kind show.”

Houston NBC affiliate KPRC reported that the Bananas’ opponent during the Sugar Land stop on St. Patrick’s Day 2023 will be the Party Animals.

According to the station, the Bananas play “Banana Ball,” which has rules different from regular baseball.

In Banana Ball, for example, players can’t walk or bunt the ball and a fan snagging a foul ball counts as an out.
