Cornyn chastises House ouster of McCarthy as Speaker

The U.S. House of Representatives voted 216-210 to strip U.S. Representative Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) of the Speakership, just days after U.S. Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) filed a resolution to declare the office vacant. At least one Texas Republican on Capital Hill expressed criticism of the ouster, which marked the first time a Speaker has ever been removed by vote.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is observing National Pedestrian Safety Month throughout October by reminding motorists statewide that pedestrians are the most vulnerable on the roads and streets. TxDOT Executive Director Marc Williams emphasized the need for both drivers and pedestrians to adapt and help keep the roads safe. He stated, "Motorists need to stay alert and look for people walking, and pedestrians can take measures to be seen by drivers who may be inattentive behind the wheel."

Parkway closes on two Houston office assets

Parkway, a privately owned real estate investment company, has recently closed an all-cash acquisition of two major office assets in Houston. The properties, Post Oak Central and CityWestPlace, were acquired from Parkway's former partners. According to a press release, the redevelopment of Post Oak Central and the ongoing development of CityWestPlace will be overseen by Parkway's development partner, Midway.
