Gov. Greg Abbott has declared the first week of October as 2023 Manufacturing Week in Texas. This proclamation aims to celebrate the manufacturing sector in the Lone Star State and its significant contribution to the Texas economy and job creation.

According to Abbott, Texas remains an economic powerhouse and continues to set new records for job growth, thanks to the hardworking manufacturers in the state. He expressed pride in the "Made in Texas" brand, which he described as a powerful global symbol of freedom, opportunity, and innovation.

Texas holds a prominent position in the manufacturing landscape of the United States. The state accounts for 9% of the country's total manufacturing gross domestic product (GDP), making it the top exporting state for 21 consecutive years. Additionally, Texas has been ranked as the number one exporter of high-tech goods for ten years in a row and has dominated the semiconductor and electronic components export market for the past twelve years.

Abbott emphasized that Texas is the manufacturing capital of the United States, where today's products are made and tomorrow's technologies are brought to life. He highlighted the importance of focusing on the development of the manufacturing industrial base and workforce in the state.

Manufacturing Week in Texas is part of Manufacturing Month, which recognizes and promotes the success of American manufacturers in the global marketplace, according to the International Trade Administration (ITA).

With this proclamation, Governor Abbott aims to shine a spotlight on the vital role played by the manufacturing sector in Texas and to encourage further growth and investment in this industry.
