Odessa Police Department to participate in "No Refusal Weekend" during Labor Day holiday

The Odessa Police Department (OPD) will work with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the Ector County Independent School District (ECISD) Police Department, the University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) Police Department, Medical Center Hospital's (MCH) KEY Program, and the Ector County District Attorney's (DA) Office to enforce a "no refusal" Labor Day weekend for Sept. 1-3, per the city of Odessa’s Facebook page.

Gonzalez says injured deputy in good spirits during hospital visit

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in an Aug. 21 Twitter post that he visited injured deputy Joseph Anderson in the hospital and the latter is doing well. The suspect accused of shooting Anderson was captured following a five-hour standoff at a Silhouette Ridge residence.
