Congressman Troy E. Nehls (R-TX-22) announced his support for H.R. 6703, known as the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act. The legislation aims to reform the U.S. healthcare system by expanding options, increasing competition and transparency, and reducing premiums.

Nehls criticized the Affordable Care Act, stating, "Democrats created Obamacare, which is an absolute failure," and added that since its implementation, "premiums have increased by 80%, making health insurance unaffordable." He further said, "Democrats broke healthcare, plain and simple. The Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act reforms the system Democrats broke by providing better options for American workers and families, boosting competition, and increasing transparency to lower healthcare costs for every American."

He emphasized that only a small portion of Americans use Obamacare: “Just seven percent of Americans are on Obamacare. The Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act lowers costs for all Americans, not just those on Obamacare. My House Republican colleagues and I will continue to fight to fix what Democrats broke, and to lower the costs of healthcare and make it more efficient for Americans far and wide.”

Nehls has represented Texas’ 22nd Congressional District since winning election in 2020 against Sri Preston Kulkarni with 51.5% of the vote. He secured re-election in both 2022 against Jamie Jordan with 62.2% of the vote and in 2024 against Marquette Greene-Scott with 62.1%.
