Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz, who represents Texas' 15th district in the U.S. House of Representatives, announced her support for the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act following a recent vote. The bill aims to reduce health care costs and increase transparency in prescription drug pricing.
"Today's vote is a step in the right direction to bring down premium costs, expand choice, and require price transparency for prescription drugs. Alongside members on both sides of the aisle, I will continue our fight to ensure that every family in our community has the peace of mind that comes with accessible, affordable health care," De La Cruz said in a statement.
The legislation proposes several measures: expanding Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) to give families more control over their health care spending; requiring pharmacy benefit managers to disclose prescription drug costs; and allowing small businesses and self-employed individuals to join Association Health Plans for better rates and more options.
Monica De La Cruz began serving as the representative for Texas’ 15th district after replacing Vicente Gonzalez in 2023. She won her seat by defeating Michelle Vallejo in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections.
