Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Tonya Miller to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), with her term running until August 31, 2031. The TCEQ is responsible for protecting public health and natural resources in Texas while supporting sustainable economic development.

Tonya Miller, based in Austin, currently serves as a director at the Texas Water Development Board. Her previous roles include vice president of wholesale power strategic projects and optimization at the Lower Colorado River Authority, executive director of the Texas Solar Power Association, and director of the Office of Air at TCEQ. She has also held positions as public counsel and chief executive officer for the Office of Public Utility Counsel, assistant director and special counsel for the Radioactive Materials Division at TCEQ, and legislative liaison for TCEQ.

Miller is a member of the State Bar of Texas. She has previously served on the Financial Research Institute Advisory Board and was an ex-officio board member for both the Electric Reliability Council of Texas and the Texas Reliability Entity. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Juris Doctor from the University of South Dakota.
