Governor Greg Abbott and various officials in Texas are celebrating the third anniversary of Operation Lone Star, a multi-agency effort aimed at securing the border and combating illegal activities. Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of the operation in a recent statement, criticizing President Biden's border policies. He stated, "Until President Biden steps up and does his job as Commander-in-Chief to secure the border, Texas will hold the line and use every tool and strategy to keep our country safe."

Since the launch of Operation Lone Star, significant progress has been made, with over 503,800 illegal immigrant apprehensions and more than 40,400 criminal arrests. In the fight against the fentanyl crisis, Texas law enforcement has seized over 469 million lethal doses of fentanyl during the mission. Additionally, migrants have been transported to various cities across the country as part of the operation.

Governor Abbott also highlighted the efforts of the Texas National Guard and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) in supporting Operation Lone Star. DPS troopers have been actively involved in border security measures, including arresting human smugglers and intercepting illegal activities. Trooper Jaclyn Gooding, who patrols the border, expressed concern for the well-being of migrants, especially children, who are often exploited by criminal organizations.

The Texas National Guard has played a crucial role in strengthening border security, particularly in areas like Brownsville. Warrant Officer Linn Allvord, Watercraft Technician Officer In Charge, emphasized the importance of training Guardsmen to operate airboats effectively along the Rio Grande River. Through initiatives like airboat training and the use of anti-climb barriers, Texas is working towards deterring illegal crossings and enhancing border protection.

Operation Lone Star continues to address the challenges posed by the lack of border security measures at the federal level. Governor Abbott and state officials remain committed to safeguarding Texas and the nation from illegal immigration, criminal activities, and drug trafficking. The anniversary of the operation serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to secure the border and protect communities.
