Governor Greg Abbott has announced the launch of the Texas Jobs, Energy, Technology, and Innovation (JETI) program, a new economic incentive initiative aimed at attracting new jobs and investments to the state. Applications for the program are now open, offering a competitive tool to drive economic growth in Texas.

In a statement, Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of the JETI program in fostering economic development and job creation in the state. He highlighted Texas as a leading hub for business, infrastructure, and workforce, but acknowledged the need to remain competitive on a national and global scale in key industry sectors.

"The JETI program is a new, transparent economic development incentive tool to help our communities continue to attract transformational capital investments that will create good-paying jobs for generations to come," said Governor Abbott. "With strategic investments in infrastructure, education, and workforce development, coupled with new economic development tools like JETI, we will continue to attract innovative industry leaders and promote increased prosperity for Texans across our entire state."

The JETI Act, signed into law following the 88th Regular Legislative Session, allows for agreements between companies, school districts, and the Governor's Office to provide tax incentives for qualifying projects. These projects must meet specific job and capital investment criteria to be eligible for tax appraised value limitations and additional benefits in qualified Opportunity Zones.

Eligible projects under the JETI program include manufacturing facilities, electric generation facilities, research and development facilities for high-tech infrastructure, and critical infrastructure construction or expansion. Notably, renewable energy projects or energy storage facilities are not included in the program.

Detailed program requirements and application forms can be accessed on the Texas Comptroller's website, providing interested parties with the necessary information to participate in the initiative and contribute to the economic growth and prosperity of Texas communities.
