The graduation requirements for these recruits were quite comprehensive. In order to graduate, the release said, a 30-week training program must be successfully completed.
"Thank you for your service, commitment, and bravery to Texas and Texans," Abbott told the graduate troopers. "You are now part of the DPS legacy—a legacy built by heroes."

Furthermore, it's worth noting that many distinguished individuals were present at this momentous occasion. Aside from the governor himself, the ceremony was also attended by DPS Director Steve McCraw, Texas Public Safety Commission Chairman Steven P. Mach, Texas Public Safety Commissioner Nelda Blair, DPS Chief James Thomas, Assistant Chief Derek Prestridge, Major Jason Griffin, Captain Shannon Hamby, Sergeant Jeremy Amis, and a slew of other state and law enforcement officials according to the release.

Now let us delve into details about this fresh batch of law enforcers. The governor’s office said that the graduating class consisted of 30 who have served in the military, 15 women, 10 with some law enforcement experience and 41 who are at least bilingual.
