League City, Texas has appointed a new police chief, Cliff Woitena, following the retirement of Gary Ratliff. The League City Police Department (LCPD) announced the appointment on September 12th, with Woitena being administered the oath of office immediately after the unanimous vote by the League City City Council.
Woitena has been a part of the LCPD since 1999 and has held various positions within the department. According to Community Impact, he has served as a bicycle patrol officer and even held the position of interim chief. His extensive experience within the department has prepared him well for his new role.
Chief Woitena's biography on the city's website reveals his impressive credentials. He is a U.S. Marine with the rank of sergeant and holds a bachelor's degree from Midwestern State University, a master's degree from Sam Houston State University, and a graduate certificate from the University of Virginia. He has also completed training at the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas and the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Academy.
In recognition of his bravery and dedication, Chief Woitena has been honored with three Medals of Valor by the LCPD and received the Officer of the Year Award for Heroism from the 100 Club of Houston. He is married and a proud father of four.
