Governor Greg Abbott has directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to request that Real County be added to President Donald J. Trump’s Major Disaster Declaration following severe flooding in Texas. Governor Abbott emphasized the state's commitment to aiding affected communities, stating, “Texas continues to ensure all impacted communities get the help they need to rebuild and recover from these devastating floods.”

The damage assessments in Real County indicate it meets federal criteria for FEMA's Public Assistance program, which aids in emergency response and infrastructure repair or replacement. More counties may be included as further information becomes available.

Governor Abbott has taken several actions to support local officials during this crisis. These include expanding SNAP replacement benefits eligibility, updating disaster declarations, securing federal assistance approvals, and surveying flood damage with military officials. The governor also announced financial support for micro-businesses and hospitals affected by the floods.

In his ongoing efforts, Governor Abbott has visited impacted areas alongside President Trump and launched initiatives such as the Texas Flooding Emotional Support Line. He continues directing state resources towards flood response and recovery operations across Texas.
