A fire that broke out on Valentine's Day destroyed a League City restaurant and injured three firefighters.

According to a report by KHOU, firefighters responded to a fire at Kelley’s Country Cookin' around 7 p.m. Feb. 14.

League City Fire Chief Michael Lugo said that when crews got to the scene there were flames coming through the roof and the fire was spreading. As the firefighters were battling the flames, the roof of the building partially collapsed, injuring three firefighters. They were treated at the scene and none needed to be hospitalized.

"When our crews got the call, we had fire coming out of the roof," Lugo told KHOU. "We're not sure of the cause yet. They're still investigating what happened.”

While the building was considered a total loss, fortunately the restaurant was evacuated before crews arrived. Some of the first responders at the scene were patrons of the restaurant.

Firefighters from Dickinson, Nassau Bay, Friendswood and Forest Bend responded and assisted with extinguishing the fire.

The fire was under control at about 8 p.m. and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
