A furniture store owner offered up his brick-and-mortar as a safe haven for individuals fleeing Hurricane Ida that needed a place to sleep while waiting for the storm to pass.

Gallery Furniture Owner Jim "Mattress Mack" Mcingvale sent a flood truck to Louisiana to help residents get through the natural disaster.

"If you are a Louisiana resident who has evacuated to Houston due to Hurricane Ida, Gallery Furniture welcomes you to sleep and eat for free at the 6006 North Freeway Gallery Furniture location for the next several days," Mcingvale said on Facebook.

The Gallery Furniture website states that those with a Louisiana ID are able to stay for free.

Labeled as one of the biggest storms to hit Louisiana since 1850 by Gov. John Bel Edwards (D-LA), Hurricane Ida made landfall along its southeastern coastline at Category 4 strength around noon on Aug. 29, which was also the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina's landfall, CBS News reported.

ABC News reports that the storm caused all of the City of New Orleans to go dark, as well as claimed at least one life. Powerless residents may not have their services restored until weeks later.

“All of the missions were successful,” Parish President Jaclyn Hotard said, ABC News reported. “Every call that came in for someone to be rescued out of their home, they have been rescued out of their home.”

According to Mcingvale's Facebook post, he also welcomed assistance from Houston residents.

"If you are a Houstonian who wants to help, please consider donating non-perishable food items and toiletries to Gallery Furniture North Freeway that will be delivered to those affected in Louisiana," the famed proprietor said.

The Gallery Furniture website states that the following items can be donated to Gallery Furniture 6006 N. Freeway: non-perishable food, bottled water, diapers, pet food, toiletries, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, hairbrushes, shampoo, feminine care products, books, games, puzzles, activities for families with children and socks.
