Galveston police chief Balli on alleged shooting incident at annual motorcycle event: 'The swift response was a collaborative effort by multiple agencies'

Galveston Police Department is currently investigating an alleged shooting that took place on The Strand during the Lone Star Rally on the night of Nov. 4, according to a Facebook post by the city of Galveston. The incident reportedly happened in the 2100 block of The Strand around 11 p.m., and due to the large law enforcement presence for the annual event, police were able to respond swiftly.


Abbott on meeting with Netanyahu: 'Texas has always, and will always, support Israel and the Israeli people'

In a recent meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Texas Governor Greg Abbott discussed ways that Texas could continue to support Israel. This marked Abbott's third visit to the West Asian nation of approximately 9 million since taking office in 2015, and comes as Israel nears its first month since declaring war on Hamas following attacks on cities near the Gaza Strip.

Houston area selected for Gulf Coast Hydrogen Hub development

The city of Houston has been selected to establish the Gulf Coast Hydrogen Hub as part of the nationwide network of Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs. This announcement was made by U.S. President Biden and U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm. The Houston region is one of seven hubs chosen to receive $7 billion in funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.


Houston receives $1M grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies for public art

The city of Houston has been selected as one of the eight cities to receive a $1 million grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies Public Art Challenge. The grant will be used to fund Houston's winning project, "HueMan: Shelter," which aims to challenge perceptions of homelessness and foster artistic collaborations between artists and unhoused individuals.
