As the holiday season nears, Teach For America Houston is offering ideas for gifts that show appreciation for educators. The nonprofit organization, which aims to ensure quality education for all children, suggests various thoughtful gestures to acknowledge teachers' efforts throughout the year.

Gift suggestions include snacks, sweets, coffee gift cards, and gift certificates to local eateries or bakeries. Other ideas are spa or wellness gift cards, handwritten notes expressing gratitude, emails to principals highlighting teachers' achievements, holiday cards or artwork from students, flowers or small plants, updates from former students, favorite books or collections of appreciation notes, classroom supplies, volunteering in classrooms, and organizing collective gifts with other families.

"Educators pour their heart into their classrooms every day," said Tiffany Cuellar Needham, Executive Director of TFA Houston. "When teachers feel appreciated and supported, it lifts their well-being and the learning environment for every student."

Teach For America was founded in 1990 and collaborates with communities nationwide to expand educational opportunities. The organization supports a diverse network of leaders working towards systemic change so that every child has equal learning opportunities. It is part of the AmeriCorps national service network.
