Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Michael Davis to serve on the Twelfth Court of Appeals, Place 3. The appointment will be effective November 1, 2025, and will last until December 31, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.
Davis is currently the Judge of the 369th Judicial District Court in Anderson, Cherokee, and Leon Counties. He also teaches as an adjunct professor at Texas Tech University School of Law. Davis is involved with the State Bar of Texas (SBOT), serving on its board of directors for the Judicial Section and as a section representative on the SBOT Board of Directors. He holds memberships in several sections including Judicial, Litigation, Family Law, and Criminal Law.
His professional affiliations include the Federalist Society; Anderson County Bar Association; Cherokee County Bar Association; Tri-County Bar Association; and participation in the George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School Law and Economics Center. Davis also serves as board chair for the Crisis Center of Anderson and Cherokee Counties and has been both a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Palestine.
Davis served in the United States Air Force from 1995 to 2001, receiving an honorable discharge. His education includes an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice from Montgomery Community College in Maryland, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Philosophy from Texas State University, and a Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law.
