Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Barry Wallace as the Criminal District Attorney for Upshur County. The appointment will take effect on November 1, 2025, and will continue until December 31, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.
Wallace currently serves as the first assistant in the Upshur County Criminal District Attorney’s Office. He is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the State Bar of Texas, Texas District and County Attorneys Association, and the Northeast Texas Bar Association. He also participates in St. Theresa’s Catholic Church Men’s Association.
Wallace is a United States Navy veteran who received an Honorable Discharge. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from East Texas A&M University—previously known as East Texas State University—and earned his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University.
