Governor Greg Abbott attended the grand opening of the Wells Fargo Las Colinas campus in Irving, Texas. The event included a ribbon cutting ceremony and a panel discussion with several officials and business leaders.
During his remarks, Governor Abbott emphasized the growing diversity of the Texas economy and its position as a financial center. "The Texas economy is becoming more diversified to signify our might as a financial capital," said Governor Abbott. "To make sure it stays that way, the Texas economy focuses not on where we are, but where we are going. We need financial institutions and the ability for all our growing businesses to have access to capital, and that is exactly what Wells Fargo is providing."
Wells Fargo CEO Charlie Scharf, Irving Mayor Rick Stopfer, TV personality Mike Rowe, and other state and local officials were present at the ceremony.
Governor Abbott highlighted that Wells Fargo's new campus represents one of the largest real estate investments in Irving-Las Colinas in two decades. He described this move as building a partnership expected to benefit both Wells Fargo and the local community. He also noted that Texas continues to offer opportunities for businesses and individuals seeking success.
In addition, Governor Abbott expressed gratitude to Wells Fargo for their donation supporting families affected by recent floods in Kerrville.
