Governor Abbott appoints new member, reappoints six to Radiation Advisory Board

Governor Greg Abbott has announced the appointment of Joelle McRee, D.D.S. to the Texas Radiation Advisory Board (TRAB) for a term ending April 16, 2027. The Governor also reappointed Michael Britt, Joe Markham, Darlene Metter, M.D., Kenneth “Ken” Peters Ed.D., Robert “Bob” Redweik, and Darshan Sachde, Ph.D. for terms that will expire on April 16, 2031. The board is responsible for advising the state on radiation matters and reviewing rules and programs related to radiation regulation in Texas.

Joelle McRee is an associate periodontist at Periodontal Surgical Arts in Austin. She is involved with several professional organizations including the American Dental Association and the Texas Dental Association. McRee holds degrees from Texas A&M University and The University of Texas Health San Antonio School of Dentistry.

Michael Britt operates Britt Claims and Consulting Services in New Braunfels and has more than two decades of experience in insurance. He has previously held leadership roles with local community organizations.

Joe Markham serves as a lieutenant with the City of Arlington Fire Department and holds positions within firefighter associations at both local and state levels. His academic background includes degrees from Lamar University and Texas A&M University.

Kenneth “Ken” Peters is executive vice president and chief nuclear officer at Luminant based in Granbury. He chairs the Utilities Service Alliance Board of Directors and has academic credentials from institutions including Virginia Tech University.

Darlene Metter, M.D., is a professor at UT Health San Antonio specializing in radiology and family medicine. She has chaired various committees related to nuclear medicine nationally and regionally.

Robert “Bob” Redweik works as vice president overseeing environmental, health, safety, and regulatory matters at Citation Oil & Gas Corp in Tomball. His previous service includes leadership roles with industry organizations such as the American Petroleum Institute.

Darshan Sachde is a senior process chemical engineer at Trimeric Corporation in Austin. His previous employment includes positions at Samsung Austin Semiconductor and Austin Energy; he holds multiple degrees from UT Austin.
