Governor Greg Abbott has expressed his support for President Donald Trump's recent executive order aimed at protecting women's sports in the United States. The order, signed by Trump, prohibits biological men from competing in women's sports.
Abbott described the day as "historic" for female athletes who strive to compete at high levels. He stated, "President Trump’s Executive Order prohibiting biological men from competing in women’s sports will safeguard the integrity of women’s sports, and I am proud to have joined the President at the White House for this historic signing. Female athletes across the nation can be assured that fairness will be protected."
This move aligns with Abbott's previous actions within Texas. In 2023, he enacted the Save Women’s Sports Act, which prevents biological men from participating in women's competitions at Texas colleges and universities. Similarly, in 2021, he signed legislation safeguarding girls' sports within Texas public schools.
