Governor Greg Abbott has instructed the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to deploy tactical strike teams in support of the Trump Administration's homeland security efforts. The directive aims to locate and apprehend criminal illegal immigrants within Texas.

"Texas is expanding our operations to assist President Donald Trump to protect Americans and enforce the rule of law," stated Governor Abbott. He further explained that the DPS will work alongside federal partners to implement immigration laws across the state. "These teams will coordinate with Homeland Security agencies to track down the thousands of illegal immigrants with active warrants across Texas and deport them from our country."

The initiative comes as part of a broader collaboration between state and federal entities. The DPS tactical strike teams will align their efforts with the newly established Homeland Security Task Force. This coordination seeks to utilize personnel and resources effectively, focusing on identifying and arresting approximately 5,400 illegal immigrants with active warrants in various local jurisdictions throughout Texas.

The teams comprise DPS troopers, Special Agents, and Texas Rangers, who will collaborate closely with federal partners. They will also receive support from the DPS Aircraft Operations Division as well as the Intelligence and Counterterrorism Division.
