Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz has been appointed as Vice Chair of the House Agriculture Committee's Subcommittee on Nutrition and Foreign Agriculture. In a statement, De La Cruz expressed her enthusiasm for the role, emphasizing the importance of agriculture to both the economy and the lives of South Texans.
"I am excited to serve as Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Nutrition and Foreign Agriculture for the 119th Congress. Agriculture is not only the backbone of our economy, but also touches every aspect of the lives of South Texans. As Vice Chair, I will continue to lead efforts to expand access to water resources for Texas farmers, protect our national food security, and ensure Texas agriculture can thrive," stated Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz.
House Agriculture Committee Chairman G.T. Thompson praised De La Cruz's appointment, highlighting her leadership qualities and commitment to rural America. "I'm thrilled to recognize Rep. Monica De La Cruz as Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Nutrition and Foreign Agriculture for the 119th Congress. Her leadership, expertise, and dedication to rural America will be instrumental as we work to address critical issues in agriculture and nutrition. Together, we will work tirelessly to support American farmers, ranchers, and rural communities. We must defend our food security, strengthen our nation's agricultural economy, and most importantly pass a comprehensive farm bill to send to President Trump’s desk," said Thompson.
In addition to her new role as Vice Chair, De La Cruz will also serve on another subcommittee within the House Agriculture Committee: General Farm Commodities, Risk Management, and Credit.
