Texas has achieved new milestones in job creation, with record highs in total jobs, the number of Texans employed, and the size of its labor force, according to December 2024 employment data. The state has added over 2.5 million jobs under Governor Greg Abbott's administration.
"Everything is bigger in Texas, and that includes creating good-paying jobs," stated Governor Abbott. "As we break record after record for total jobs, the number of Texans working, and our labor force, we begin the new year as America’s job creator. Jobs are growing here, businesses are growing here, the future is growing here. Texas partners with businesses to help them grow and succeed, providing career training for high-demand industries and cutting burdensome regulations. Working together, we will continue to lead the nation and build a brighter future for all Texans."
The Texas Workforce Commission released year-end employment data showing several records as of December 2024:
- Texas's labor force reached a historic high at 15,575,900.
- The number of working Texans, including self-employed individuals, hit a record 14,922,200.
- Total nonfarm jobs in Texas also reached an unprecedented 14,318,700.
- From December 2023 to December 2024, Texas added 284,200 nonfarm jobs and grew at a faster annual rate than the national average.
Since Governor Abbott took office in 2015, more than 2.5 million jobs have been created in Texas.
Recently, Governor Abbott attended events celebrating President Donald Trump's inauguration in Washington D.C., including the Texas Business Conference where he highlighted Texas's economic strength and leadership in innovation and job creation.
