U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul has expressed gratitude to outgoing Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens and praised President Trump's appointment of Mike Banks as the new chief of the agency. McCaul, who is the chairman emeritus of the House Homeland Security Committee, released a statement acknowledging Owens' service during challenging times.
"Our state and nation owe a debt of gratitude to outgoing Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens," said McCaul. "He answered the call to serve in this crucial role during the most difficult time in history, under an administration that fought CBP’s efforts at every turn."
McCaul also expressed optimism about future border security under the Trump administration with Banks leading the agency. "Thankfully, those days are over. The Trump administration will stand by our brave agents at the border, and I'm excited the president has chosen Mike Banks — Texas' true 'border czar' — as their new chief," he stated.
McCaul emphasized his confidence in Banks' capabilities: "No one is better suited for this role than Mike. With him at the helm, I join thousands of Texans in looking forward to a secure border and a safer, stronger, and more prosperous future."
