Governor Greg Abbott has made appointments to Humanities Texas, a state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Kerry Reyna has been appointed, while Amanda Nobles and April Graham have been reappointed. Their terms will expire on December 31, 2026. Humanities Texas supports public programs in history, literature, philosophy, and other humanities disciplines to strengthen communities across the state.
April Graham from Bryan is a retired high school teacher. She is a lifetime member of the Spring Branch Parent Teacher Association and has served as an extraordinary minister and Christian education teacher at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Graham holds bachelor's degrees in psychology from Texas Tech University and secondary education from the University of Houston.
Amanda Nobles from Longview retired after three decades as executive director of Kilgore Economic Development Corporation. She is affiliated with several economic development councils and actively volunteers for organizations such as the Texas Shakespeare Festival Foundation. Nobles earned a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in French from The University of Texas at Austin and completed further studies at the University of Oklahoma's Economic Development Institute.
Lt. Col. Kerry Reyna from San Antonio is retired from the United States Army Fort Sam Houston after 27 years of service. Reyna holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Sam Houston State University, a Master of Education from the University of Houston, and a Master of Arts in Administration from the University of the Incarnate Word.
