Governor Greg Abbott and First Lady Cecilia Abbott participated in a Thanksgiving tradition by volunteering with Meals on Wheels Central Texas. The couple delivered meals to families and homebound seniors in Austin, joined by Meals on Wheels Central Texas President and CEO Henry Van De Putte.
"The Meals on Wheels Thanksgiving Day delivery is one of the most cherished traditions for our family," Governor Abbott stated. He emphasized their annual commitment to addressing hunger among the elderly in Greater Austin and encouraged Texans to support those in need within their communities. "We wish all Texans a very blessed and happy Thanksgiving."
First Lady Abbott expressed gratitude for spending the holiday assisting the elderly community. "Meals on Wheels Central Texas' tireless service to those in need is an example of what it means to be a Texan," she said, urging continued service to others.
Henry Van De Putte highlighted the organization's mission, stating, "All of us at Meals on Wheels Central Texas are proud to deliver hot, nutritious meals, along with important safety checks." He thanked Governor Abbott and his family for their support. "Over 3,000 Central Texans rely on our programs every day," he noted, crediting volunteers like the First Family for helping meet these needs.
