U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul (R-Texas), chairman emeritus of the House Committee on Homeland Security, has introduced the Protecting Military Assets Act of 2024 in collaboration with Congressman Morgan Luttrell (R-Texas). The bill stipulates that illegal immigrants convicted of or having committed offenses related to entering military, naval, or coast guard property will be deemed inadmissible and subject to removal.

The legislation is co-sponsored by Representatives Jodey Arrington (R-Texas), Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas), Harriet Hageman (R-Wyo.), Neal Dunn (R-Fla.), Aaron Bean (R-Fla.), Jen Kiggans (R-Va.), and Nick LaLota (R-N.Y.).

"President Biden’s open border and consistent displays of weakness have sent a green light to those seeking to enter our country illegally and do us harm," said Rep. McCaul. "As the former Homeland Security Committee chairman, I know how seriously we must take every threat at our border—especially those that approach sensitive facilities like our military bases. I’m proud to introduce this bill alongside fellow Texan Rep. Luttrell to help mitigate the national security crisis President Biden created and protect those serving in our Armed Forces."

"The recent breach at a Marine Corps base underscores the urgent need for robust measures to safeguard our military installations from threats such as this," said Rep. Luttrell. "Despite these extremely alarming events becoming more prevalent under President Biden, we cannot become complacent with our national security. This legislation takes an important step to strengthen our defenses and send a clear message that threats to our Armed Forces will not be tolerated."

"Today, the most imminent security threat to the United States is self-inflicted. President Biden’s refusal to secure our border and enforce the laws of the land have imperiled the safety of our citizens," said Rep. Arrington. "From our borders to our bases, I’m proud to stand alongside my friend Congressman Luttrell as we fight to protect our citizens and soldiers from the onslaught of criminals and terrorists pouring across our borders. In light of recent concerning incidents, we’re making clear—any alien who breaches a U.S. military base should be deported immediately."

In May, two individuals posed as Amazon delivery drivers attempted to breach a Marine Corps Base in Virginia after failing to provide access credentials. Both were found to be in the country illegally, with one reportedly on the terrorist watch list.
