Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) has joined Senators John Cornyn, Ted Cruz, and other Texas Members of Congress in urging the Department of Transportation to allocate a new long-haul flight slot from Washington’s Reagan Airport to San Antonio International Airport.

The airport, which serves De La Cruz’s constituents in Guadalupe County and other parts of TX-15, is just outside Reagan's flight perimeter by approximately 30 miles. The Members of Congress emphasized that in a region like San Antonio with several military installations, direct service to an airport near the Pentagon is logical.

“I hope Secretary Buttigieg looks at the facts,” De La Cruz stated. “San Antonio serves a wide population of the traveling public with many going to the Washington Capitol Region on official military orders and for other government business. Awarding a slot to SAT makes sense and would have a positive impact on our region.”
