Governor Greg Abbott and members of the Texas House of Representatives have come together to address the issue of border security in the face of President Joe Biden's open border policies. In a press conference held at Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of teamwork in achieving a decrease in illegal crossings in Texas.

"In Texas, we've been able to achieve a decrease in illegal crossings only because of great teamwork," said Governor Abbott. "Part of that teamwork is our partnership with the Texas National Guard, and we are currently working with the Texas Military Department to add more razor wire, anti-climb barrier, and personnel. The tools and strategies that DPS and the Texas Military Department use to secure the border would not happen without members of the Texas Legislature, like those with me here today. Working together, we will expand current operations in other parts of the border to decrease illegal immigration and ensure that we add more soldiers in the border region."

The press conference was attended by several members of the Texas House of Representatives, including Representatives Greg Bonnen, Benjamin Bumgarner, Dustin Burrows, Briscoe Cain, Giovanni Capriglione, Mano DeAyala, Stan Gerdes, Cody Harris, Cole Hefner, Lacey Hull, Stan Kitzman, Stephanie Klick, Jeff Leach, Candy Noble, Matt Shaheen, John Smithee, David Spiller, Lynn Stucky, Kronda Thimesch, and Ellen Troxclair. Also present were Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Deputy Director Freeman Martin, Adjutant General of Texas Major General Thomas Suelzer, and Texas Border Czar Mike Banks.

Prior to the press conference, Governor Abbott held a border security briefing for the members of the Texas House of Representatives. Deputy Director Martin, Major General Suelzer, and Border Czar Banks provided an update on the unprecedented border security efforts being undertaken by Texas in response to President Biden's failure to secure the border. Deputy Director Martin highlighted the achievements of DPS in making criminal arrests and seizing a significant amount of fentanyl. Major General Suelzer discussed the efforts of the Texas National Guard in defending the state from illegal crossings, including the establishment of a base camp at Shelby Park. Border Czar Banks praised the effectiveness of Operation Lone Star's border security measures, which have resulted in a significant decrease in border crossings.

Governor Abbott's commitment to securing the border has garnered support from 13 other governors across the country who stand in solidarity with Texas' right to defend itself against President Biden's border crisis.

The joint efforts of Governor Abbott, members of the Texas House of Representatives, and various law enforcement agencies demonstrate Texas' dedication to protecting its citizens and ensuring the safety of the border region.
