Two Houston Rockets legends, Rudy Tomjanovich and Calvin Murphy, will be co-grand marshals of the 74th Annual H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade on Nov. 23, according to Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner. Turner himself will serve as the grand marshal for the parade, which will be the last one of his administration.
In an Oct. 19 press release, Mayor Turner expressed his excitement for the parade, stating, "The parade is symbolic of our resilience as a city, and we have highlighted the most incredible talent, floats, and marching bands in the history of the parade and have taken it to a new level of excellence."
He also expressed his gratitude for the support from sponsors and the progress the city has made over the years. Turner called the parade a "treasured holiday tradition."
The parade is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day and will wind its way through Downtown Houston. Attendees can expect to see elaborate floats, colorful marching bands, high-flying balloons, and more.
The city is currently seeking volunteers for the event. Those interested can sign up on the official website of the parade.
The H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade is one of the oldest Thanksgiving Day parades in the country and has become a beloved tradition in Houston.
