Susan G. Komen, the non-profit breast cancer awareness organization, is set to host the 2023 Houston Race for the Cure on October 7 at 7:45 a.m. The event, which will take place at Sam Houston Park, aims to raise funds to support breast cancer patients, advance research, and provide patient navigation services.

Kristen Barley, the executive director of Susan G. Komen, expressed excitement about the event, stating that being back in person for the second year in a row allows the community to unite in their mission to fight against breast cancer.

The 2023 Houston Race for the Cure is proudly sponsored by several local organizations, including Kroger, Anosh Inc. Foundation, Houston Methodist, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and more. These sponsors play a crucial role in supporting the race and its efforts to make a difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer.

Interested individuals can register for the event on the Susan G. Komen website at: komen.org/houstonrace.

As of September 13th, the race has already raised $248,036.59 out of its goal amount of $600,000. This demonstrates the community's commitment to supporting breast cancer patients and advancing research in the fight against the disease.

Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women in the United States, with approximately 30% of new diagnoses reported annually. The American Cancer Society highlights that the average American woman has a 13% chance of developing breast cancer in her lifetime, with the disease predominantly affecting middle-aged and older women.

The 2023 Houston Race for the Cure offers an opportunity for individuals to come together, participate in the event, and contribute to the ongoing battle against breast cancer.

By supporting this important cause, participants can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by the illness and help further advancements in research and patient care. Through their collective efforts, the community can provide much-needed support to breast cancer patients and work towards a future without this devastating disease.
