Houston-based R&B singer Lah Pat recently partnered with soul food restaurant The Greasy Spoon to provide a free dinner to the community. The rising recording artist also worked the event, which took place Aug. 23.
This was done with the intention of helping families with food as the community drew closer to starting the new school year. Not only did Lah Pat pay for the food, but he also worked for The Greasy Spoon for the day. He met with Greasy Spoon owner Max Bozeman II and was provided with a uniform, went through training, met his new coworkers, learned the policies of the restaurant and started serving families.
The Greasy Spoon had a specialty menu for the event, with items such as the “Lah Pat” Porkchop combo, the "Kamikaze" Fried Catfish Combo and the "Rodeo" Soulfood Stuff'd Turkey Leg, with the last two being references to songs of Lah Pat. He helped prep and serve the food and worked the register, according to Houston Trend Magazine.
Lah Pat was born in New Orleans, but relocated to Houston following Hurricane Katrina. After a difficult childhood, he eventually started making music and had a song that went viral on TikTok called “Rodeo,” which landed him a record deal with 300 Entertainment. “Rodeo” hit the Billboard Top 40 earlier this summer. “Kamikaze” is his newest single, Houston Trend Magazine reported.
Lah Pat is currently preparing for the release of his debut album, according to Houston Press.
Bozeman, Greasy Spoon owner, began his career in the restaurant business by working at his family’s restaurant as a preteen. He opened several companies that weren’t in the restaurant industry in his early 20s, before returning to his roots and opening The Greasy Spoon. According to the website, Bozeman intends to “elevate the culture of southern cuisine” with The Greasy Spoon.
