Southwest Management District Board of Directors met July 24.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

1. Determine quorum; call meeting to order.

2. Receive public comments. (A statement of no more than 3 minutes may be made on items of general relevance. There will be no yielding of time to another person. State law prohibits the Board Chair or members of the Board from commenting on any statement or engaging in dialogue without an appropriate agenda item being posted in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Law. Comments should be directed to the entire Board, not individual members. Engaging in verbal attacks or comments intended to insult, abuse, malign or slander any individual shall be cause for termination of time privileges).

3. Approve Minutes of meeting held June 26, 2023.

4. Receive update and recommendations from Finance Committee

a. Receive Assessment Collection Report.

b. Receive monthly financial report and approve payment of invoices.

5. Receive update and recommendations from Business and Economic Development Committee.

a. Review and approve adoption of Event Sponsorship and Community Development Funding Support Policy and Procedures

b. Consider sponsorship request from the Chinese American Citizens Alliance, Houston Community Involvement Fund for their 51st Annual Miss Chinatown Houston Scholarship Pageant.

c. Consider request from BakerRipley for their Community Events.

6. Receive update from Comprehensive Planning Committee.

7. Receive update and recommendations from Public Safety Committee.

a. Consider sponsorship request for the Midwest Division for its Back to School Drive.

b. Consider the purchase of a refrigerator for HPD Midwest Division.

c. Consider sponsorship request from HPD for the “H-Town Rising Stars” Fundraising Gala.

d. Consider funding to translate five articles for HFD to Chinese.

e. Consider support funding for the Harris County DA Gun Safe Program.

f. Consider agreement with the Harris County Attorney for Nuisance Abatement/Community Protection Program.

8. Receive update and recommendations from Environmental and Urban Design Committee.

a. Consider request from Community Connect to provide maintenance for the murals on the retaining walls at the METRO bus stops on the west side of Hillcroft between Bellaire Blvd and High Star.

b. Consider Williams Architectural Signage & Consulting task order to remove and replace panels for the ID Markers.

9. Receive Executive Director’s Report.

10. Adjourn.
