Governor Greg Abbott has instructed the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to mobilize state emergency resources due to anticipated tropical weather threatening Southeast and East Texas. The decision comes as a storm system moves along the Gulf Coast, potentially affecting the region in the coming days.

"Texas is prepared to provide all necessary resources to support local officials as a severe storm system moves along the Gulf Coast towards East and Southeast Texas and the Texas Coast," stated Governor Abbott. He advised Texans to take precautions, monitor forecasts, road conditions, and have an emergency plan ready.

The National Hurricane Center is tracking a tropical weather system moving across the northeastern Gulf coast that may bring heavy rain to Southeast and East Texas. It also poses a rip current threat for the Texas Coast. Residents are urged to stay informed through local forecasts.

In response, several state emergency resources have been activated:

- The State of Texas Incident Management Team will assist with deployed resources.

- Swiftwater Rescue Boat Squads from Texas A&M Task Force 1 will aid in flood rescues.

- Strike Teams from the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System will support local fire departments.

- Severe Weather Support Packages from the Texas Emergency Medical Task Force include medics and ambulances.

- High profile vehicles from the Texas National Guard will help stranded motorists.

- Personnel from the Texas Department of Transportation will monitor road conditions.

- Game Wardens and rescue teams from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department are ready for flood rescues.

- Helicopters with hoist capabilities from various agencies are on standby for assistance.

Additional support includes disaster assessment agents, power outage monitoring by utility commissions, natural gas supply oversight by the Railroad Commission, and environmental monitoring by TCEQ.

These measures follow recent flooding incidents statewide. Texans are encouraged to remain informed through official channels like tdem.texas.gov/prepare or texasready.gov for safety tips related to tropical weather.
