The man accused of fatally shooting Migos member Takeoff has been released on a $1 million bond, Houston-based media outlets reported citing Harris County court records.
Patrick Clark is alleged to have pulled the trigger on the 28-year-old Grammy-nominated rapper in downtown Houston on Nov. 1, 2022.
Houston NBC affiliate KPRC reported that Clark, who was arrested a month following the incident, posted the bond on Wednesday.
The development came after Clark’s defense team unsuccessfully attempted to get his bond lowered from the original $2 million to $300,000.
Per KPRC, as part of his bond, Clark is required to wear a GPS monitor and relinquish his passport.
Authorities allege he was trying to flee the country at the time he was apprehended, the station reported.
Houston ABC affiliate KTRK reported that Harris County 232nd Criminal District Court Judge Josh Hill elected to not reduce the bond to $300,000, but instead, set it at $1 million, citing certain remarks supposedly made by the 33-year-old suspect.
The Texas Constitution prohibits bond from being used to hold someone as bonds are issued to ensure an offender will return to court.
According to Houston FOX affiliate KRIV, Clark is slated to return to court for an arraignment hearing in March.
Takeoff, who was born Kirshnik Khari Ball, formed the widely popular Migos with relatives and fellow rappers Quavo and Offset in 2008.
The group was best known for their 2016 No. 1 hit, “Bad and Boujee.”
Quavo, who was Takeoff’s uncle, has released a tribute song to his nephew called “Without You.”
