An Alvin Independent School District (AISD) middle school teacher who went missing in September was found in New Orleans on Monday, Houston and New Orleans-based media outlets reported.

Authorities said that 48-year-old Michelle Reynolds was located alive and well in Louisiana’s largest city.

According to Houston NBC affiliate KPRC, the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) worked with the Louisiana State Police (LSP) on the month-long case, which commenced after Reynolds’s husband filed a missing person report on Sept. 22.

A BCSO-issued statement said the law enforcement agency confirmed the woman’s status with help from the LSP, and she has since been safely reunited with her family, KPRC reported.

“At the request of the family, no other information will be released at this time,” the sheriff’s office added in the statement.

Nonprofit organization Texas EquuSearch assisted in the search for Reynolds, Houston ABC affiliate KTRK reported.

Per the station, the group released an image of her walking south on Constance Street in New Orleans on Sept. 30.

Michael Reynolds said that someone who ate with his spouse recognized her and contacted the BCSO, New Orleans NBC affiliate WDSU reported.

WDSU reported that Reynolds, who stayed among the homeless, was put into LSP custody and turned over to a relative who lived two hours away from New Orleans.

The couple haven’t spoken to each other yet, according to the station.

Reynolds is a mother of three who teaches sixth grade reading and language arts.
