Another search effort for a Texas State University student from the Houston area who went missing in December 2020 was held on Saturday (March 26), according to a report from Houston NBC affiliate KPRC. The station reported that a search team was summoned to assist the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office in finding 22-year-old Missouri City native Jason Landry.
"TEXSAR was out searching at the request of Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO)," CCSO detective Jeff Ferry said, according to KPRC. "We had this search planned for weeks, it’s part of our ongoing investigation.”
Austin FOX affiliate KTBC reported that on Dec. 13, 2020, the then-21-year-old Landry was driving home from the Texas State campus in San Marcos to Missouri City to visit his family when he disappeared.
Landry's alleged last-known whereabouts were in Luling – 60 miles east of San Antonio and 140 miles west of Houston – where authorities said his vehicle crashed.
Houston ABC affiliate KTRK reported that Texas Search and Rescue officials resumed the search on Saturday (March 26).
Landry's wallet, phone and clothing were allegedly found in the abandoned vehicle.
Ferry said that the site yielded no signs of foul play nor any indication that Landry was targeted, KPRC reported.
According to KPRC, TEXSAR had previously ceased its efforts to locate Landry, who has brown hair, brown eyes, stands at 6 feet and 1 inch, and weighs 170 pounds.
A $10,000 award was offered to no avail.
"[TEXSAR] searched approximately 100 acres with nothing new to report. Prayers continue," a Facebook page set up to help find Landry said on Sunday (March 27).
At least seven searches were conducted since authorities informed Landry's parents of his disappearance on Dec. 13, 2020, KTRK reported.
