Ashley Turner, the only child of Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, tied the knot in a ceremony held on March 12.

The city's first daughter, who is a social media influencer, married Jimmie Captain after the couple became engaged in early 2021, according to Houston NBC affiliate KPRC.

“Yesterday was an unforgettable day as I was truly blessed to see pure happiness and joy as Ashley and Jimmie were married in front of family and friends,” the mayor tweeted. "Our family gained a remarkable son and I look forward to seeing their marriage grow through God’s protection and guidance."

KPRC reported that the wedding festivities took place at Citadel Houston on the city's south side with hundreds of relatives, friends and well-wishers in attendance.

Among the guests was Houston City Councilwoman Abbie Kamin, who gushed over the father-daughter dance.

"Having a special relationship [with] your daddy means you know it when you see it for others," Kamin tweeted. "Mayor @SylvesterTurner during #fatherdaughter dance w/ Ashley who was as stunning as ever, was just one of the many beautiful moments tonight. Mazal Tov Ashley & Jimmie their families."

The newlyweds' love story began some years ago at a retirement party for the groom's mother, a former Houston Police Department employee, according to KPRC.

The pair began dating exclusively two months after that event.

Jimmie got down on one knee to ask Ashley's hand in marriage following a charity event on her birthday last year, according to the station.

The rest was history.

Aside from gaining a son-in-law in Jimmie, the mayor also became a grandfather to Jimmie's young daughter.
