The University of Houston softball team has added former Delaware State standout Jordan Reid as its director of operations, according to a recent release by the team.
The move made by Coach Kristin Vesely brings in a new staff member that has plenty of experience with the game of softball, both playing the sport and coaching. This is a return to the game however, as Reid has been the assistant director of Sport Administration and Championships for The American Athletic Conference since 2017. There she prepared for the Olympic sport championship events through hiring vendors, event management, game management and officials.
“At Houston, Reid will handle the day-to-day operations which include but are not limited to, managing the team's travel, coordinating recruiting activities, community service events and is the liaison between the coaching staff and support staff within the athletic department,” the University of Houston said.
Reid has a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and a master's degree from Delaware State. She is a former infielder/outfielder for Delaware State, helping the Hornets to 109 wins between 2009 and 2012. According to MEACsports.com, Reid is one of only two players to earn three MEAC Player of the Year Awards, which she did from 2010 to 2012.
Reid joined the Delaware State coaching staff as a graduate assistant once she finished playing, and then in 2014 was a full-time assistant. Between 2015 and 2017 she was the assistant coach for Appalachian State.
