The Boys Scouts of American Sam Houston Council partnership has impacted our students by helping to build their vocabulary, enhance their critical thinking skills, and preparing them for Destination 2035," said Aiesha Odutayo, Director of NES Dyad.
ScoutReach Director Sidney Castillo expressed gratitude towards HISD for recognizing the benefits of the partnership, stating, "Thanks to the leadership of HISD for recognizing what Scouting can bring to these youth that may otherwise not have that chance to grow and experience what lifelong values, a life of giving service and what positive achievement can mean to them."
HISD’s Dyad classes, an innovative educational tool, have teamed up with the Boy Scouts of America to introduce Scouting to students at Shadydale Elementary School and Key Middle School through a special course called ScoutReach. This collaboration was celebrated at the Houston Sports Breakfast held at the George R. Brown Convention Center on May 1.
The Houston Sports Breakfast is a significant event for the Houston Scouting community, aiming to recognize donors and garner support for the organization. The event, attended by over 600 business leaders and sports enthusiasts, featured a ceremonial presentation of the U.S. and Texas flags by HISD’s Dyad Scouts.
ScoutReach classes are conducted by Scout Leaders from Boy Scouts of America Sam Houston Area Council, with assistance from Dyad consultants. This partnership offers more than 50 student Scouts the chance to learn essential survival skills, healthy eating habits, and environmental awareness.
The collaboration between the Boy Scouts and HISD's Dyad program allows students to embark on their unique Scouting adventure, providing them with invaluable experiences and opportunities for growth.
