On Jan. 21, Shadow Creek guard and Texas State commit Shawn Jones achieved internet fame by performing a backboard-shattering dunk during the Sharks' game against Alief Hastings.

Jones, a 6-foot-6-inch guard, darted down the lane to rebound an unsuccessful three-pointer, according to VYPE Houston. Jones then snagged the missed shot and dunked it back. The rim cratered under Jones's powerful dunk, causing pieces of the backboard to rain on Hastings' floor.

"Allow us to re-introduce this young man. His name is Shawn, Jo-to-the-nes," Texas State Men's Basketball wrote in a Jan. 21 Twitter post.

The spectacular dunk was featured on ESPN's SportsCenter.

"It felt like I just grabbed straight air for a second," Jones told VYPE. "It felt unreal. I didn’t realize until I looked at the ground and saw the rim I was like [oh my gosh]."

Houston Chronicle reports that Jones's arm was riddled with shards of glass, but he didn't suffer any injuries.

"It felt weird when I dunked it," Jones said in an interview with KHOU Sports' Matt Musil, according to Houston Chronicle. "(Usually) you can feel when the rim’s kind of shaking or doesn’t go anywhere, but it felt like I just went straight through air or something. I was like, ‘What?’ Then I looked and I saw the rim on the floor and glass everywhere. All my teammates ran on the court, they all were around me, the whole team. It was just exciting. I was pumped up for real."

Jones and the Shadow Creek Sharks went on to win the game decisively 79-51. Following the win, the team improved to 19-2 and is currently ranked 16th in the state by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.
