Galveston area attorney Mark Metzger is no longer facing charges in connection with dressing up as fictional "Halloween" character Michael Myers as a prank last September.

"Thanks to [attorney Christopher] Carlson's zealous advocacy and a city prosecutor with a sense of humor, the case against Michael Myers is DISMISSED!" Metzger wrote in a Dec. 3 Facebook post.

According to ABC 13 News, on Sept. 13, Galveston police received calls regarding a masked man roaming a Galveston beach armed with a bloody knife. Police detained Metzger only to learn that the knife and the blood was fake. Metzger was originally facing a disorderly conduct charge for dressing up as the "Halloween" character.

Metzger, who practices personal injury and criminal defense, was no stranger to playing pranks and had actually pulled this particular prank before, dressing up as Michael Myers for the amusement of local residents, Houston Chronicle reported.

The attorney happened to have the costume in his car that day and said he performed the stunt to ease people's nerves regarding incoming Tropical Storm Nicholas.

"I just had to break up that monotonous tone," Metzger said, according to Houston Chronicle. "I was trying to break up that kind of negative atmosphere that was going around and give people something to laugh about, or something to get their minds off the present situation if only for just a moment."

Some local residents enjoyed the prank and even took selfies with Metzger, but not everyone was amused as evident by the calls to local authorities.

"I just don't think they appreciate it that much. I guess there's some people out there that don't have a sense of humor or, you know, can't please them all," he said.

Disorderly conduct is a class C misdemeanor and could have cost Metzger a $250 fine if the case had not been dismissed.

Tropical Storm Nicholas made landfall, but caused little actual damage.
