The City of Houston has recently announced in a press release that tickets for the city's signature holiday event, Magical Winter Lights, a 20-acre Christmas light exhibition, are now available.

Magical Winter Lights' reintroduction following a COVID-19-related delay also coincides with the event's relocation to the Houston Raceway in Baytown.

“This is a new beginning as we rebuild our event following the pandemic cancellation of last year,” said Yusi An, the event organizer, in a press release. “Our resources are still limited to put together the full festival, but we are looking forward to welcoming back guests and providing them with joy and memories after going through such a challenging time.”

The event includes seasonally themed lantern light sections, local entertainment, carnival rides and games and an interactive dinosaur section.

Participants will be able to enjoy seeing over 100 of these distinctive lantern sets constructed by experienced artists in eight distinct themed parts.

Following the cancellation of the event in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Magical Winter Lights' organizers are excited to re-establish the event at the new venue.

“We believe this new venue provides us better parking, increased food options and organized ticket entrances,” An said. “Canceling in 2020 was tragic for our international team of lantern artists and performers but we have big dreams moving forward built upon our win of the Great Christmas Light Fight in 2019.”

The seasonal attraction, which is open from Nov. 19 to Jan. 2, won the heavyweight division of ABC's Great Christmas Light Fight in 2019.

“Houston Raceway Park is thrilled to welcome the largest holiday lighting event in the Houston area, and the largest lantern festival of its kind in the U.S. to our venue,” said Seth Angel, Houston Raceway Park general manager and vice president, in the press release. “Magical Winter Lights is a great addition to our diverse portfolio of events, and we look forward to working with the MWL team to produce the holiday experience for our guests this fall.”

Tickets are available for $17 online at the event's official website or for $27 at the door. The festival is open daily at 5 p.m., including holidays.
