Sundance Square and Artspace111 Consulting are giving Texas-based artists the opportunity to showcase their work in downtown Fort Worth.

“Forty-five years ago, Sundance Square was conceived as a heart transplant to bring life back to downtown Fort Worth, a project infused with great respect and love for architecture, art, music and entrepreneurship,” said Ed Bass, chairman of Sundance Square.

Starting last week, the two organizations have officially made an open call to accept submissions from individuals interested in participating. A total of 12 artists will be assigned mural spaces spanning two warehouse buildings and three blocks on Sundance Square, according to Artspace’s main site.

If selected, artists will be granted $2,000 and a one-month deadline to work on the mural. The participants will receive half of the payment for the project upon signing an artist agreement, and the the other portion once it has been completed, Artspace notes.

Though the initiative is intended to undergo constant evolutions, the hosting organizations have committed to keeping the work visible for a minimum of six months.

“This project is a continuation of our commitment to make downtown a welcoming and vibrant place for families, for artists, for musicians, for ideas and for beauty,” CEO of Sundance Square, Sasha Bass said. “I am most excited about this mural collaboration because it will grant Texas artists the freedom to create something together. It will be beautiful; it will be relevant.”
