Every Texan is honored to present our 2021 Legacy Award to Darren Walker, president of the Ford Foundation. We’re proud to virtually welcome Mr. Walker home to Texas and celebrate him for his commitment to social justice and advancing equity.

Mr. Walker has taken exemplary steps to strengthen the philanthropic sector’s response to rising inequality and systemic injustice in Texas, the United States, and worldwide. Under his leadership, the Ford Foundation became the first philanthropy in US history to issue a $1 billion social bond for proceeds dedicated to strengthen and stabilize nonprofit organizations in the wake of the global COVID-19 crisis. $75 million of that funding is specifically committed to nonprofit and advocacy organizations in the South.

Sponsors are also invited to a small in-person cocktail reception and fireside chat with me on November 16th at the South Congress Hotel (Every Texan will maintain close communication with all sponsors about the cocktail reception date and will follow all local health authority guidelines at that time).
