Former New England Patriots' wide receiver Danny Amendola made his presence on the Houston Texans known during a game on Sept. 12 by catching a touchdown pass, which was less than a week after Amendola signed with the team.

Amendola's touchdown catch helped with the Texans' 37-21 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars during the team's first game of the regular season.

"Signed earlier this week and already scoring touchdowns," the NFL wrote in a Sept. 12 tweet that included a video Amendola's touchdown pass play.

Amendola's return to the Bayou City is a homecoming of the sorts for the 12-year NFL veteran and two-time Super Bowl champion. According to the Houston Daily, it also meant he'd be reunited with Nick Caserio, general manager of the Texans, who spent 20 seasons with the New England Patriots in various coaching and executive positions.

“He’s happy to be coming home,” Erik Burkhardt, Amendola’s agent, told the Houston Chronicle earlier in the week when the deal with the Texans was made official.

Amendola's first touchdown catch as a Texan was his 22nd overall, and earned praise from his former teammate Julian Edelman who took to social media to congratulate his friend, Yahoo Sports reported.

"My guy is built different," Edelman tweeted and shared the video originally posted by the NFL.

According to Yahoo Sports, Amendola is a Woodlands and Texas Tech alum. His first touchdown with the Texans came after an eight-yard pass from the team's new quarterback Tyrod Taylor who he ran a short distance into the end zone before halftime on Sept. 12. Edelman has since retired from the NFL, but will be working as an analyst this season for Showtime's "Inside the NFL."

Amendola signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Texans last week, the Houston Daily reported. Amendola most recently played for the Detroit Lions, but saw most of his success during his time in New England.
