The fifth annual Hats, Hearts & Horseshoes raised more than $280,000 to benefit Bo's Place, which offers grief support for families, adults and children at no cost.

Bo's Place is a nonprofit bereavement center. Ellie Francisco, the CEO of Francisco and Co., said she and Niki Little of In Any Event worked as event planners for the event. She called the event a success.

"Yes, the event exceeded the goals raising $280,000," Francisco said in an interview with Houston Daily.

Francisco said the event had many fundraising opportunities.

"Puppy Pals, a racing wall raffle, and purchasing a rose for a friend and silent auction bidding kept guests entertained as they waited to watch the race," Francisco said.

Francisco said this was the first year the event was held at a new location.

"Yes, this was the first time it has been held at the Polo Club, and also was exciting to be able to do the event in person this year," Francisco said.

Francisco said the money raised at the event would help the bereavement center.

"Bo’s Place exists to provide support and community to those who have experienced the death of a loved one," Francisco said. "A nonprofit bereavement center, Bo’s Place offers multiple grief support services for children, families and adults at no cost and provides education and resources for those who assist people in grief."

Francisco said the event was chaired by Alissa and Kevin Maples, Millette and Haag Sherman, and Christie and Mark Sullivan. Honorary chairs were Paige Fertitta, Megan and Luke Hotze, Hannah and Cal McNair, Hallie Vanderhider, and Kelli and John Weinzierl.

The fifth annual Hats, Hearts & Horseshoes benefiting Bo’s Place, which was canceled last year due to the pandemic, was held on May 1 at the Houston Polo Club. It was attended by 250 supporters and featured green fields and horses watching from their stalls.

Seen in the crowd were Debbie Gregg, Fady Armanious and Bill Baldwin, Stacey and Al Lindseth, Jade and David Shine, Beth Wolff, Travis Torrence, Maria and Neil Bush, Julia and Harvin Lawhon, Tonja De Sloover and Adam Hricik, Tina and Dan Silvestri, Jenny Abbott, Sarah and Duncan Underwood, Elia Gabbanelli, Cynthia Wolff, Rosyln Bazelle, Jo Ann Petersen, Carolyn Faulk, Jennifer and Chad Pinkerton, Claudine and David Hartland, Dee Dee Howes, Dawn Kreig, Kirsten and Roger Herrscher, Mignon Gill, Christina and Matt Altenau, Carol Lee and Allen Lyons, Paige Fertitta, Hallie Vanderhider, Kelli and John Weinzierl, and Maidie Ryan, according to the news release.
