Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo is set to be discharged from her residential treatment for clinical depression on September 16th, according to an announcement from her office. Hidalgo, who took medical leave last month, will transition to outpatient care and plans to officially return to her duties on October 2nd.


Rice University on upset win over UH: 'The Bayou Bucket is coming home'

In a stunning upset, the Rice Owls football team emerged victorious against the University of Houston (UH) Cougars, reclaiming the prized Bayou Bucket after eight attempts. League City tabs Woitena new police chief

League City, Texas has appointed a new police chief, Cliff Woitena, following the retirement of Gary Ratliff. Galveston County Health District warns about vibrio after resident dies from eating raw oysters

The Galveston County Health District (GCHD) is warning residents about the dangers of vibrio vulnificus after a man died from an infection caused by consuming raw oysters. Vibrio can be found in coastal waters, including warm, salt water and brackish water, and is transferred to humans through raw or undercooked shellfish. The rise in vibrio infections in the U.S. has been attributed to unusually warm ocean temperatures. In response, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a health advisory on September 1st.
